Pofadder is named after a Koranna Captain, Klaas Pofadder. Situated south-west of Upington on the Springbok road, it is 50km from the Namibian border. This semi-desert area is well-known for its birdlife, succulents, geology, date plantations and sub-tropical fruits like mangoes. The dorper farmers produce excellent quality meat.
Visitors to the area can enjoy 4X4 trails, hiking and river rafting. There are a number of old granite buildings and a Quiver Tree forest.
