Founded in 1899 as a church centre on Jasaja Odendaal's farm, Odendaalsrus was for many years a quiet, isolated town. Then, in 1946, gold was discovered and Odendaalsrus mushroomed into the modern gold-mining town that it is today, offering a wide range of facilities.
