Diesel and leaded fuel, limited cool drinks available at Sendelingsdrift. It is essential to carry sufficient fresh water with you. As most internal roads are tracks or deep-sanded river beds, 4x4 vehicles or vehicles with high clearances are recommended. It is suggested that you travel in a convoy of 2 to 3 vehicles.

The Richtersveld is one of the world's most awesome yet fragile ecosystems. The National Park area covers some 160 000 ha of zigzag mountains and sandy plains, traversed by the Gariep/Orange River.
Four communities, south of the Richtersveld National Park, are excellent examples of true Nama culture. A community guest house in Eksteenfontein will prepare traditional meals on request (+27 (0) 27 851-7108), while Sanddrif, on the banks of the Gariep/Orange River, offers good fishing (+27 (0) 27 831-1457). The community of Kuboes will arrange Nama dancing (+27 (0) 27 831-2095), and true Nama hospitality is found at Lekkersing (+27 (0) 27 851-8580) with accommodation offered in town or at Koerdap.
